Christian Science is a Bible-based religion founded by Mary Baker Eddy and based on the healing truth Christ Jesus preached and practiced.

Christian Science churches have no clergy. The church’s founder, Mary Baker Eddy, ordained that the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, would be the dual pastor.

During the week leading up to the Sunday Service, Christian Scientists all over the world study the Weekly Bible Lesson “sermon,” found in the Christian Science Quarterly. On Sunday, this Lesson is read to the congregation by two members of the church who conduct the service. Mary Baker Eddy established our pastor to remove personality and human opinion and allow God’s Word to be heard “uncontaminated by human hypotheses.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 457.1)

Mary Baker Eddy’s work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, thoroughly explains the spiritual teachings of the Bible. Mrs. Eddy devoted her life to “communicating a message of hope, healing, comfort and spiritual strength to the world.” (The Mother Church, www.christianscience.com)

In addition to making Science and Health available to everyone, Mrs. Eddy immersed herself in teaching, healing, lecturing and leading the Christian Science movement. She knew, as did Christ Jesus, that we all possess the ability to create health and harmony in all areas of our lives.

Our Master said, “After this manner therefore pray ye,” and then He gave that prayer which covers all human needs….Here let me give what I understand to be the spiritual sense of the Lord’s Prayer:

 Our Father which art in heaven,
  Our Father-Mother God, all harmonious,

Hallowed be thy name.
  Adorable One.

Thy kingdom come.
  Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever present.

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
  Enable us to know,--as in heaven, so on earth,--God is omnipotent, supreme.

Give us this day our daily bread;
  Give us grace for today; feed the famished affections.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
  And love is reflected in love.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;
  And God leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth us from sin, disease and death.

For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
  For God is infinite, all-power, all Life, Truth, Love, over all, and All.
